Association Dues
Although the board has the power to increase dues 5 percent a year, the yearly increases are not keeping up with the costs of operating the association. Dues for Prestonwood West residents for 2008 are only $97 a year – a very modest amount for our upscale community, especially for the residents who do not live in one of the sub-associations where dues vary from $600 to $3,000 a year for the upkeep and maintenance of their properties. The $97 a year dues payment is being stretched very thin and must cover these association expenses:
Landscaping of the common areas including: seasonal flowers, tree plantings, mowing, edging, fertilizing, pruning, irrigation maintenance, replacement and repairs.
Common area lighting, electricity and water.
Professional management fees, business affairs.
Monthly financial reports.
Perimeter brick wall maintenance and repair.
Legal fees.
Bench replacement.
Monument sign upkeep.
Annual audits and tax preparation.
Insurance for directors and officers.
Liability insurance.
Administrative costs (postage, copies, letterheads, envelopes).
Literature printing.
Newsletter publication (expenses not covered by advertising revenues).
