Association Dues

Although the board has the power to increase dues 5 percent a year, the yearly increases are not keeping up with the costs of operating the association.  Dues for Prestonwood West residents for 2008 are only $97 a year – a very modest amount for our upscale community, especially for the residents who do not live in one of the sub-associations where dues vary from $600 to $3,000 a year for the upkeep and maintenance of their properties.  The $97 a year dues payment is being stretched very thin and must cover these association expenses:

• Landscaping of the common areas including:  seasonal flowers, tree plantings, mowing, edging, fertilizing, pruning, irrigation maintenance, replacement and repairs.

• Common area lighting, electricity and water.

• Professional management fees, business affairs.

• Monthly financial reports.

• Perimeter brick wall maintenance and repair.

• Legal fees.

• Bench replacement.

• Monument sign upkeep.

• Annual audits and tax preparation.

• Insurance for directors and officers.

• Liability insurance.

• Administrative costs (postage, copies, letterheads, envelopes).

• Literature printing.

• Newsletter publication (expenses not covered by advertising revenues).
